So Obama promised – during the 2008 campaign – to bring US troops home from Iraq and Afghanistan.
While our bumbling president honored his political commitment – against the recommendations of military commanders – and made a hasty retreat from Iraq – not mention telegraphing the Taliban as to the date of withdrawal of forces from Afghanistan, here we are, four years later, and guess what?
U.S. troops – mostly Special Operations forces – are now in Uganda, Congo, South Sudan and Central African Republic for the purpose of neutralizing the LRA – “Lord’s Resistance Army.”
Not sayin’ I agree or disagree with the mission – just sayin’.
Today’s maddening reality:
People who receive the most in entitlement benefits pay little or no taxes. So? People are voting themselves other people’s money.
Grab the Pepto Bismol.
Back from a great weekend – can’t beat family, now, can you?
Enjoy loved ones while you can, folks – you can never get missed times back.
Minimize future regrets.
Still buzzing over the way Rick Santorum OWNED Charlie Rose this morning. For far too long, Republicans have failed to get angry – and call out these hypocrites for their “gotcha” politics. Newt changed that – and showed the other candidates the effect in the polls of doing so.
Thanks, Newt. Now – drop out of the race and endorse Rick Santorum.
The mother of a Marine killed in Afghanistan is offended by Chris Christie’s order to to lower flags to half-staff in New Jersey in honor of Whitney Houston.
Phyllis McGeath, a fan of Houston, said, “I was hurt and offended. Disappointed. Saddened. I felt like the honor that was given to my son was tarnished.”
Her oldest son, Philip, was killed by a suicide bomber just four weeks ago in Afghanistan. He was 25.
Ms. McGeath has every right to be offended.
The most ridiculous question of the day: Should flags be flown at half-staff for Whitney Houston?
NO. Worse – the culprit is none other than New Jersey Governor Chris Christie, who ordered U.S. and state flags be flown at half-staff at all state government buildings on Saturday, the day of her funeral.
While governors are authorized by federal law to give this order, some are arguing that due to Houston’s public struggles with drugs, such an honor is not deserved. I tend to agree, although I feel more strongly that such honors should be reserved for those who have demonstrated public service- or have served our country in the military.
Tough call, governor.
According to a just-released Gallup Poll, 85% of small businesses are not hiring.
The top five reasons:
No need for additional employees (76%); worried revenues or sales won’t justify adding new employees (71%); worried about the current status of the U.S. economy (66%); worried about cash flow or ability to make payroll (53%); worried about the potential costs of healthcare (48%).
Remember all of those hiring tax-credits O included in his “stimulus bill” – and in his proposals in the SOTUS? What kind of impact did they have on hiring plans among the 15% of businesses looking to expand? Not much – just 7% said they were influenced by government tax incentives.
If you haven’t read my post on The American Life League’s graphic video on Planned Parenthood’s efforts to expose children as young as 10 to graphic sex, check it out. Should make your teeth itch.
The decline of America continues – until enough people say “ENOUGH.”
Nothing quite says “Oops!” like an Islamic terrorist accidentally blowing himself up – and living to regret it.
An Iranian carrying grenades blew off his own legs and wounded four civilians Tuesday after an earlier blast shook his house in Bangkok.
The violence began when a stash of explosives apparently detonated by accident in Saeid Moradi’s house, blowing off part of the roof. Police said two foreigners quickly left the residence, followed by a wounded Moradi.
He tried to wave down a taxi, but he was covered in blood, and the driver refused to take him. As any terrorist worth his weight in gefilte fish would do, he threw an explosive at the taxi and began running.
Police had been called to the area to apprehend Moradi, who hurled a grenade at them to defend himself. Here’s where the “oops” comes in: The grenade bounced off a tree – right back at Moradi – and blew off his legs.
Wile E. Coyote stuff.
It appears that O’s pals in the Muslim Brotherhood aren’t taking too kindly to threats of cuts in U.S. aid to Egypt – which they say could affect Cairo’s peace treaty with Israel.
This is the latest sign that Egypt intends to call the Regime’s bluff over the diplomatic dispute triggered by an Egyptian crackdown on non-governmental organizations – and the Muslim country’s blocking of at least 6 American employees of U.S. Non-governmental organizations from leaving the country.
O will blink. Count on it.
